Vision, Ethos & Values

Our vision is for… 

·     Safety, stability and emotional well-being for children

·     Academic and physical achievement for children.

 Principles

Our principles are based on our vision; what we know to be right, like pointing true north. Being principle centred is what we bring to the forefront of our work. We base our principles on the four EYFS themes for children.

 

·     A Unique child: every child is a competent learner from birth       who can be resilient, capable, confident and self –assured.

 

·     Positive relationships: children learn to be strong and                 independent  from a base of loving and secure relationships         with parents and/or key person.

 

·     Enabling environments-the environment plays a key role in         supporting and extending children’s development and                 learning.

 

·     Learning and development: children develop and learn in           different ways and at different rates and all areas of learning       and development are equally important and inter-connected.

 

Strategic Intentions:

To put the principles into practice we intend to provide:

 

·     Enabling Environments: Create rich and stimulating                   continuous provision indoors and out.

 

·     Exciting and challenging opportunities to promote children’s       personal development and well-being within the community.

 

·     Learning and Development: Develop a broad,rich and                 relevant curriculum for young children

 

·     Positive Relationships: through the Key Person system we           will support secure attachments, work in partnership with           parents and respect each other.

 

·     A Unique child: to know respect and understand children’s         rights.

Our aim is for all staff and governors to develop  good practices for the benefit of the children and each other “It is not enough ,as many early years staff believe, to create a stimulating environment and let children play. Staff need to actively teach the children, which means modelling appropriate language and behaviour, sharing intelligent conversations, asking questions and using play to motivate and encourage them.” - Professor Iram Siraj-Blatchford and Kathy Sylva 2002
